The INTERREG VI-A IPA Bulgaria–Türkiye Programme has reached a key milestone in Priority 2 “Integrated Development of the Cross-Border Region” with the Monitoring Committee approval of Full Project Proposals (FPPs) under Call 1. This achievement paves the way for the next important phase - signing subsidy contracts with project partners whose initiatives aim to drive progress of the CB region.
In total, 16 projects will be supported with nearly € 15.64 million in funding, driving forward the Programme’s goals of enhancing regional cooperation, sustainable development, cultural heritage preservation, and environmental protection. Selected initiatives reflect a shared vision of cross-border growth and innovation, with planned investments including:
Restoration of cultural and historical landmarks
Development of green and urban spaces
Construction of educational and research facilities
Promotion of sustainable tourism
The selection process adhered strictly to the established rules and involved assessors from both Bulgaria and Türkiye. All 19 submitted proposals (13 from the main list and 6 reserve) underwent administrative and eligibility check, followed by detailed screening of objectives, budgets, and partners’ capacities. Key elements included state aid compliance, double funding verification, on-site inspections, and budget optimizations to improve feasibility and cost-efficiency.
Next Steps: Subsidy Contract Signing
With the project approval process concluded, the Programme initiates the subsidy contract signing phase for approved projects. Partners of conditionally approved projects must fulfill outstanding conditions within 45 calendar days of receiving the official notification.
The Managing Authority and the Joint Secretariat remain committed to supporting beneficiaries throughout the contracting process to ensure smooth implementation and long-term impact.
