Trans-Border Cooperation and Technical Modernization for Energy Efficiency in BG-TR Wood Industry

Specific objective: RSO2.1. "Promoting energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions"

Gamitreid 2 Ltd., Bulgaria   

To create a strong cross-border impact on the energy efficiency of cooperating Bulgarian and Turkish wood processing companies. This will be achieved through the joint efforts of Gamitreid 2 and Apak for technological renovation and joint sustainable initiatives, aiming for energy efficiency gains of more than 85%. The project also targets a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions within the cross-border area of the both countries - nearly 60 tons.

Project activities:

• Energy Efficiency Investments:

  Bulgaria: Modernization of Sawmill line & installation and integration of new industrial Wood Chipper in Kameno

  Türkiye: Integration of an Optical cross-cutting saw machine in Babaeski

• Trainings & Knowledge Sharing event
• Networking & Awareness Events.

Expected project impact:

• Energy Efficiency: Significant improvements in energy use for both companies
• Environmental Impact: Reduction of GHG emissions and adoption of environmentally friendly practices in the sawmill industry
• Cross-Border Cooperation: Strengthened collaboration in wood processing and enhanced supply chain integration.
