Joint training in Türkiye on inland illegal migration in the cross-border region

The first training from the Strategic project of the Bulgaria-Türkiye programme took place in Edirne, Türkiye. The project activity was on improving the professional capacity and skills of the staff of the law enforcement departments responsible for inland detected illegal migration in the cross-border region. 

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Volkan Tatar – Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Chair of Political Science and Public Administration, Head of the Department, Arel University, delivered presentations regarding the key concepts. The main topics included migration route maps in Türkiye, the emergence, structure, common policies, institutions and objectives of the European Union, the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum, the Dublin Regulation, EU legislation on migration, the institutional framework and policies for preventing and responding to irregular migration in Bulgaria, Bulgaria's National Strategy in the field of Migration, Asylum and Integration.

The training was opened by Serdar Öztürk – Deputy Director General for Financial Cooperation and Project Implementation, Directorate for EU Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Ivanov from the Bulgarian Consulate General in Edirne and Eyyüp Batuhan Ciğerci – Deputy Governor of Edirne.
