Joint training in Burgas on exchange of experience and good practices to improve the institutional cooperation

Between April 28 and 30, 2025, the second joint training under the Strategic Project of INTERREG VI-A IPA Bulgaria- Türkiye Programme "Joining for Safer Borders" is taking place in the city of Burgas. The aim of the activity is to further enhance coordination of law enforcement authorities in the cross-border area of both countries in response to internal illegal migration, as well as to exchange experience and best practices in institutional cooperation for implementing operational activities.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vanya Stamatova from the Center for Legal Studies at Burgas Free University delivers presentations on the addressed issues. The joint training focuses on topics concerning the legal framework relevant to illegal migration crimes; current trends relevant to illegal migration activities; prevention of such crimes by the law enforcement authorities; organizational, tactical and follow up actions undertaken by the law enforcement authorities for counteracting illegal migration; measures and examples, based on professional.

The training was officially opened by Mr. Vladimir Krumov, Governor of Burgas Region; Mrs. Nalyan Gyudzhen, Head of the Joint Secretariat of the INTERREG VI-A IPA Bulgaria- Türkiye Programme 2021–2027; and Senior Commissioner Vladimir Marinov, Director of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior – Burgas. Official guests at the opening ceremony included the Deputy Governors of Edirne and Kırklareli Provinces, Mr. Sıdkı Zehin and Dr. Yusuf Güler.
