A total of EUR 5M euros will be injected into the cross-border region of Bulgaria and Türkiye addressing forest fires. The project Flameshield is backed by the Interreg programme between the two countries.
Haskovo will host the next regional consultation dedicated to the future of the European territorial cooperation in the cross-border region between Bulgaria, Türkiye and Greece in the 2028-2034 period.
The Interreg Bulgaria-Türkiye programme released the third version of the Project Implementation Manual (PIM). The updated document provides more simplifications for all beneficiaries, such as:
New annex with clarifications and explanations of communication and visibility rules;
Easier project amendments – unified procedure and less administrative burden;
The three Interreg programmes, managed by Bulgaria, are looking for volunteers to join the communication team. The recruitment and the traineeship are within the Interreg Volunteer Youth (IVY) initiative.

Beneficiaries from the Bulgaria-Türkiye, Bulgaria-Serbia and Bulgaria-North Macedonia programme completed specialised online trainings dedicated to communication and visibility measures. The initiative aimed to strengthen their capacity to communicate project implementation effectively and in line with EU requirements. It provided a comprehensive overview of regulatory framework, the rules for application of different visual elements, the architecture of communication activities and practical examples.
Pomorie and Burgas are advancing their Interreg initiatives by building on the success of 2014-2020 projects.
Support from Interreg programmes aimed at fostering the long-term growth of small and medium-sized enterprises was showcased at the Fourth Regional Partnership Forum “Connecting 4 Growth” in Burgas. The meeting brought together more than 300 participants from Bulgaria, Romania and Türkiye and focused on strengthening cross-border economic cooperation and promoting opportunities for business development.
Regional consultations on the future of Interreg brought together 150 representatives from Bulgaria and Türkiye. The meeting in Burgas hosted regional authorities, business, civil society and beneficiaries from both countries. The consultations aim to gather ideas that will guide the design of the post-2027 programming period.
Interreg Bulgaria-Türkiye programme provided new vehicles to tackle unauthorized crossings along the border. They were officially commissioned to police authorities in Burgas, Haskovo and Yambol.
The first regional consultations in Burgas on the future of the Interreg programmes in the cross-border region between Bulgaria and Türkiye for the 2028-2034 period will take place on 26 March. The event is jointly organized by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works of Bulgaria and the Directorate for EU Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye.
