TOUCH project from the Territorial Strategy of the Bulgaria-Türkiye programme delivered the first study on raft-building (saldzhiystvo). This craft was widely spread centuries ago when the Maritsa river was a busy trade route.
The Strategy Board of the Territorial Strategy from the Bulgaria-Türkiye Programme approved a targeted approach to expand cycling infrastructure in the cross-border region. “This is the only one indicator that is lagging behind and we want to find a result-oriented approach to secure its achievement in the remaining programme timeframe and available resources”, said Desislava Georgieva, Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works and Head of the Managing Authority, on the seventh session of the Board.
Representatives of Tundzha Municipality and local stakeholders officially launched the implementation of OurFuture project. The groundbreaking ceremony marked the start of the Bakadzhik visitor centre expansion. New facilities for EUR 242 000 will deliver a modern multifunctional hall for interactive exhibitions, educational programmes, cultural events and tourism-related activities.
More than 80 participants came to Edirne to shape the 2028-2034 period. Representatives of public authorities, NGOs, educational institutions and other stakeholders exchanged ideas on strengthening cross-border cooperation and creating new project opportunities.
The feedback collected during the meetings, workshops and surveys will play an important role in ensuring future programme priorities reflect the region's needs.
The Beneficiary Navigator is an interactive online manual that is developed to facilitate the use of the Project Implementation Manual (PIM) of the Bulgaria-Türkiye Programme.
The consultation process carried out as part of the preparations of the 2028–2034 period of the Interreg IPA Bulgaria–Türkiye Programme continues in Türkiye.
Following the meetings held in Burgas, Smolyan and Yambol, Bulgaria the next meeting will be held in Edirne on 25 June.
The next consultation on the future of Interreg programmes for the 2028-2034 period was held in Haskovo. Representatives of state and local authorities, non-governmental organisations, educational institutions and stakeholders rounded up at the Regional History Museum. The meeting focused on the opportunities for developing future projects within the framework of European territorial cooperation and the guidelines for the new programming period.
A total of EUR 5M euros will be injected into the cross-border region of Bulgaria and Türkiye addressing forest fires. The project Flameshield is backed by the Interreg programme between the two countries.
Haskovo will host the next regional consultation dedicated to the future of the European territorial cooperation in the cross-border region between Bulgaria, Türkiye and Greece in the 2028-2034 period.
The Interreg Bulgaria-Türkiye programme released the third version of the Project Implementation Manual (PIM). The updated document provides more simplifications for all beneficiaries, such as:
New annex with clarifications and explanations of communication and visibility rules;
Easier project amendments – unified procedure and less administrative burden;
